It seems like there is no stopping Epson in their drive to take control of the already mature in house disc production industry. The Epson PP-100 Disc Producer and autoprinter has already proven popular with the market, with its 100 disc capacity making it ideal for applications where low volumes of discs are required. It suited to the delivery or marketing materials and for the distribution of corporate data, rather than as a back office or enterprise level solution for delivering disc product. he finish achieved by the Epson Disc Producer range is fantastic and the machines themselves are well built and beautifully designed. They are limited though by their throughput and by the cost of printing. Its a little baffling therefore why Epson chose to release a 50 disc version of a product that is perhaps already lacking in capacity.

I would have thought that a 1000 disc capacity unit with continuous ink system would be more well received. I guess they expect they consider that the lower price of a few hundred pounds will help attract the custom of a wider market.

But with prices starting at £660 for the Primera Bravo SE auto printer and the StorDigital DJ50 DiscJet (both products that produce discs with similar high quality print finishes) Its hard to see how the PP-50 will take the extra ground. Still its nice to see some big players confident in the industry.
